Helping our community in a tough year

Delivering the Palliative & End of Life Care needs of all communities within the Metropolitan Borough of Bury in the way that each community believes best serves their needs. Their aim is to provide early support and intervention,  whilst working closely with community partners, to support the development of resilient local communities and focus on providing fully integrated care.

For over 35 years East Lancashire Hospice has continuously provided a special way of caring to people suffering from life limiting illnesses throughout Blackburn, Darwen, Accrington and Clitheroe. East Lancashire Hospice provides many different services.  These are available to people with life-limiting illness, their families and others important to them.

.

Since the hospice opened in 1993, Derian House has helped, cared for and supported hundreds of children and their families. The Children’s Hospice looks after children and young people living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. They also support their siblings and parents during these difficult times; this ranges from emergency and short stay respite, counselling and so much more.

Springhill Hospice is a purpose-built facility that offers specialist palliative care to patients and their families from diagnosis to end-of-life. Based in Rochdale the charity relies on support from the local community and surrounding areas to help raise with fundraising and volunteers. To keep the hospice running on a day to day basis, it costs in excess of £7,500 to keep the doors open.

Pendleside exists to promote and enhance the quality of life for people with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers; by delivering specialist and holistic palliative care, which addresses their individually assessed physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.

The Foundation promotes positive mental health and well being for families across the Ribble Valley. With a rapid response approach, they aim to connect with families in need within 48hrs of their referral to reduce any risks to the families or increase in worsening circumstances. They uphold the philosophy that prevention is better than cure, which aligns with their ethos of being able to intervene as soon as possible.

Wood Street Mission is a children’s charity that helps and supports children and their families living on a low income in Manchester and Salford. Providing the basics needed to meet children’s day-to-day needs and improve their life chances. Through Family Basics the charity provides struggling families with children’s clothes, bedding, baby equipment, toys and books.

“A Hospice in a community of the size of Rossendale is unusual. The services we deliver here are normally not available except in much larger conurbations. We have been able to maintain and develop the service due to the support of local people”. -Founder Dorothy Mitchell, 2001  With much help and support, they have been able to give back to Rossendale for over 30 years.
